First-semester students

Ersti-Woche

The Ersti-Woche orientation programme always takes place the week before university courses begin. New students are welcomed to the university by the Student Council, who also shows you around town and introduces you to other students. We give you a chance to both socialise and learn who you can contact with any questions that arise. Your Student Council helps you get started at the university, plan your timetable and address any other questions you have.

During the first week of the semester, we take the opportunity to focus on our approx. 100 first-semester students. Your Student Council Sport Science works hard to help you find your way around the university and get an overview of what your studies require of you. We even put together an “Ersti-Tüte” goody bag to help you get off to a great start to your studies. The goody bag includes a map of Konstanz, pen, pad of paper, sweets, flyers, stickers and sometimes coupons and discount offers for particular products or upcoming events, which help make both your first few days as well as your finding a new home in the region go more smoothly.

Ersti-Hütte

The Ersti-Hütte retreat takes place on the weekend between the Ersti-Woche orientation week and the week university courses start. This is an ideal opportunity to get to know other new students in a very personal and intensive way. A lot of friendships made at the retreat end up lasting throughout the entire period of study. The Student Council Sport Science provides the environment for making these connections and organises fitting activities to help every student make a smooth transition into their studies. We will be travelling to our retreat in Switzerland with a group of approx. 50 first-semester students. We will get to know each other by playing some games, cooking, hiking and celebrating the start of our studies together.
