Analysing Hormonal Changes with Saliva Samples

The analysis of saliva via SaliCaps® is a useful technique for identifying endocrine changes that occur as a function of psychological manipulations. Parameters of interest are for example the enzyme alpha-amylase, the stress hormone cortisol or the sexual hormones testosterone and estrogen. Since motive conflicts are thought to act as stressors, we investigate physiological stress indicators for example in the context of motive research (read here). Furthermore, we analyse whether and how physical activity influences physiological responses to stressors.
